About Brookwood Villa

When it comes to caregiving, Brookwood Villa Personal Care owner and operator Renee Grimes believes in the Golden Rule – treat others as you wish to be treated, especially when those “others” are elderly citizens in need of a home away from home.

Renee, a registered nurse for 25 plus years, said she believes God opened the door for her and her husband Charles to purchase the personal care home in 2012. “God opened this door and that’s what keeps me going – I know He put me here to do this.”

Located on Wayne Street, Brookwood Villa is a 27-room facility with 12 resident assistants, two kitchen staff, and one housekeeper. Brookwood residents receive individual, one-on-one, personalized care around the clock.

We assist our residents with bathing, dressing, eating, medications – all the activities of daily living – their personal care. Each one of our residents is different and we customize their care to what’s best for them. There is no ‘one way’ that fits everyone.

Although a personal care home does not require assistants to have a Certified Nursing Assistant license, we train our staff just as if they were in a skilled care facility. Renee credits her years spent working in the home health and hospice field with geriatric and long-term care patients with preparing her for this role.  In addition, she wanted Brookwood to be a place where her very own father would be well taken care of.  Placing a loved one in a facility is difficult decision and we want to make it an easy decision.  One way is our close working relationship with Wayne General Hospital and the local home health agencies. “That is one of our biggest assets – to be able to call the hospital, home health, or hospice. We work hand-in-hand with the local medical community,” she said. “Our location here near the hospital and local pharmacies is so perfect. We can easily go talk to a doctor face to face and that means so much.” She added that Lab Drugs, Walgreens, and Bonner Discount Drugs deliver to the facility, a real plus for residents and their families.

When the Grimes family purchased the facility, they increased the capacity from 14 rooms, some of which were semi-private with no private bathroom, to a fully remodeled, 27 private room facility where each resident has his or her own private bathroom. Residents can also bring their own furniture or use the custom-made armoire and bed provided. Each room also has its own individual heating and cooling system that the resident can adjust.

In addition to the excellent care the residents receive, they can take full advantage of a number of amenities offered. Each room has a flat-screen television with cable access, WiFi, and call bells. The facility also has a spacious dining room where three meals a day are provided, three indoor living/common areas, outdoor living areas, back patios, a beauty parlor, and a chapel. Several local churches host services for the residents: First Baptist Church members come for devotion on Tuesdays, Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church comes once a month. The residents can now take advantage of FBC live streaming Sunday morning service too. In addition to church services, bingo, craft activities, and seasonal parties round out the extra-curricular events offered at Brookwood. Family and friends have open access to visit any time.

We invite anyone interested in checking out her facility to drop by or call for an appointment 601-735-0264
